Please note:  

Your application must be received before your event / program takes place to be considered for a grant.

Applications for Minor Grants must be submitted no later than 8 weeks prior to the event, program or project commencing. Applications submitted for events or projects commencing in less than 8 weeks will not be considered for funding for a Minor Grant.

Community Grants Policy

 

Have you applied and been awarded any other grant this financial year from THSC?
Must be a dollar amount. 

Minor Grants

Council will consider one THSC Minor Grant application per financial year up to $1000 for not-for-profit and incorporated organisations that are delivering community services, organising small events or cultural activities for Hills Shire residence. (Minor grants do not require dollar for dollar match funding).

The Event / Activities / Program MUST be a future date.

Must be a date. Please ensure your start date is at least 12 weeks from today's date.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible to apply:

Applicants must:

  • Be a recognised legal local not-for-profit and/or registered charitable organisations.
  • Your organisation must be based in The Hills Local Government Area.
  • Provide the activity in The Hills Local Government Area.
  • Ensure the activity is free or low-cost for the community to participate in.
  • Apply through Council’s online grant management system.
  • The Event / Activities/ Program MUST be a future date. 
  • Organisations will need to include a copy of Public Liability with a min of $20M coverage.

Ineligible to apply:

  • Projects that do not benefit residents of the Hills LGA.
  • Retrospective funding.
  • Organisations with outstanding completion reports or acquittals from previous funding.
  • State and Federal Government agencies and their entities (including schools, P&Cs, Childcare/Preschool Services, TAFE/Universities/Colleges, Area Health Services, hospitals and political organisations).
  • Councillors, staff and their immediate family.
  • Applicants applying for staff costs

Assessment Criteria

Applications are assessed against eligibility and application criteria and are approved at the sole discretion of Council subject to budget availability.

Project details

Project clearly articulates and reflects priority areas. The budget is achievable and deliverable.

Project innovation

Project is innovative and not previously funded by Council or any other level of Government and is not already being delivered locally. 

Project reach

Application clearly states who will benefit from this project and how many Hills Shire residents it will positively impact. 

Organisational Capability

Applicant has demonstrated their operational capability and skills of key personnel delivering the project. 

Social and Participant Impact

Application highlights how the project will improve social outcomes for The Hills Shire community (and not replicate preexisting programs). 

Timeline

Applications for a Minor Grant may be made throughout the year and will be assessed on a regular basis.

Applications received will be assessed by a Grants Officer who will determine if the application is eligible.

All grant applications will be assessed by relevant staff at The Hills Shire Council.

Applications may be recommended for full funding, partial funding or no funding.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome.
